Jane has many years experience of teaching, conducting and performing, beginning with school performances and covering a wide variety of musical styles.
As a performer she has created roles for Stephen McNeff and Howard Moody, and taken part in numerous premieres for friends and colleagues. She has sung everything from Puccini to Pink Floyd, and played flute and saxophones in symphonic and funk bands.
As a conductor/musical director, she has directed shows and operettas, coached opera choruses and many choirs both established and ad hoc. She has run singing groups for singers at all levels including a very successful “Can’t Sing Club”, which demonstrated that even those who have been told they can’t sing, can! She has worked for Sing-Up – the government backed scheme to encourage singing in primary schools, and has regularly led whole school singing sessions.
She moved back to Devon from Hampshire in July 2009 and currently teaches Music and Maths part time at Churston Ferrers Grammar School. She has a growing private teaching practice in Paignton, and has already sung and played in a number of local events. She has previously worked with David conducting the choir in performances of Granny Galactica in November 2009.
She is not entirely lost when it comes to science and maths either – her first degree was in Music and Mathematics and she is married to a Doctor of Chemistry (who also sings and plays the trumpet)!
